1 YEAR CONTRACT FOR
COMMUNITY LIAISON COORDINATOR
SAWERA provides free and confidential culturally-sensitive services to South Asian women victims of domestic violence throughout the state of Oregon. Pronounced "sah-way-rah", it also means "morning” which symbolizes a new beginning for South Asian women. We are a non-profit organization, formed in 1997, to serve South Asian women victims of domestic violence through education, advocacy, and empowerment. Our goals are to provide direct services to victims and to conduct outreach and education, in South Asian communities, in the greater Portland area.
This position will report to the Board Outreach Coordinator. Also communicate with the Fundraising and Volunteer coordinators to represent SAWERA at Outreach events and to the community and corporations as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead all aspects of organizing, promoting, and managing programs and events associated with increasing the awareness of domestic violence in the South Asian community
• Cultivate relationships with community, ethnic, civic and cultural groups, as well as media outlets, to strategically integrate SAWERA into appropriate market segments

QUALIFICATIONS

• BA/MA in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Women’s Studies, Communications, or Marketing
• Fluency in English and a South Asian language is highly preferred
• Must possess excellent organizational, writing, presentation and leadership skills and ability to work with community leaders and organizations
• Knowledge of the South Asian culture is required
• Valid driver's license as well as the ability to travel and work nights and weekends is required
• Prior experience working with a South Asian community organization is preferred
• Community contacts in the greater Portland area are an asset

PAY

• $10/hour for 4 hours a week
• Mileage reimbursement
